Wellington drawfest is one we have been trying to achieve for a while.
I have taken position as the temporary Wellington Drawfest organizer.
Any members of the drawfest group who is stationed in Wellington please show your interest by replying to this journal or noting me (fello).
As soon as I can see enough interested, I will organize a date and time.
Thank you.

IN OTHER NEWS!
We now have subcription (donated by me). Hurray Admins!
I'm assuming
Since K-sin is stationed in hamilton, drawfest needs someone who is stationed in Auckland to organize things up there.
We are looking for a new head admin for Auckland who is willing to dedicate themselves to the Drawfest cause.
Drawfest Auckland has been the heart of this community being where it all started. In the late dates of 2006, Murk and Fello were sitting in Fello's shitty little room in a house in Mt Eden. Suddenly, an idea came! Let's get people together and draw! Draw? YES DRAW! It was epic win that day as we organized the first drawfest through our journals. That weekend, we had near 10 people who came to the Mt Eden flat and well... they drew pictures all day! Sounds silly doesn't it? But we're doing it and it's a good thing. Auckland drawfest continued monthly (with some long breaks in between at times).
Auckland drawfest is known by GNC (the graphic novel cafe) and is welcome most of the time to use their spare office room so that's what's going for Auckland
We're looking for anybody with a talent for getting people together and has good communication skills (unlike me... who just... you know... suck.). Your job is to organize up-coming drawfests with your counter part hamilton (since K-sin makes a trip up to Auckland every now and then.) Please send in a note to me (fello) if you think you're the next Auckland Drawfest organizer!
We are also looking for people to organize Drawfests in Christchurch and Dunedin so if you're interested in starting a drawfest there, please let us know!
Thank you.
-Mike

To those of you who don't know what Drawfest is-
Drawfest is a gathering of artists, cartoonists, designers & creatives.
The main activity of the event is simply just to draw and to meet new people with similar interests or skills.
There are, of course, other activities involved (such as, eating and watching films, participating in events and commissioning/selling work.)
It is often comprised of amature artists and beginning freelancers, but is slowly growing to encompass more people with more variation. We are also interested in guest artists coming and presenting their work and experience and would greatly appreciate it.
It is a non-profit event with artists in mind.

Auckland dates
- April 26th (venue TBD)
Celebrating the first quarter with a bang. This event is completely free and open to the public. So bring all that you have, be it comics, prints, commission info. We will be looking to recruit help for the 26th event, providing competitions, giving seminars and holding workshops throughout the day. We may even push it past the day and into the night!
- July 26th, Mercury Hotel, Auckland CBD ([link])
The biggest Drawfest of the year and worth a trip to Auckland if you can make it, and even if you can't. We will be doing a conjoint event with 'Doujin Overload' with a focus on students and freelancers. The purpose of the event to provide students and freelancers a place to experience or get closer to other areas in the creative industry, and for businesses to keep an eye out for new talent and display their latest products.
Things we've been considering for this event:
- Stalls displaying current Wacom, Adobe, Autodesk, Mac products, etc.
- Talks about the creative industry from popular and successful New Zealand artists & designers
- Gallery stalls
- Competitions for prepared art & speed art
- Workshops
Hamilton dates
- March 15th, Waikato Universtiy, East Hamilton (Room TBD)
The last few Hamfest's weren't something to brag about but didn't lose the Drawfest spirit. So this time we're preping for one that we CAN brag about. So make sure all the artists you know in the Waikato area know to be in Hamilton for the art packed day. With talent from the best Waikato University's BCGD can provide to provide design workshops.
Wellington dates
Soon to be announced. It is just around the corner.
Christchurch dates (New management needed)
- TBD
Dunedin dates (New management needed)
- TBD

i'm heading that way for my study and they say i can make a club if i want to :3 ect ect
I don't think I'd be a very reliable person to try and organise something like this
Also, I never got an answer as to whether you could do us a sketch for Drawfest to use (of a person balancing a pencil on their nose).
